Good housekeeping goes a long way, especially out in the field of work, at home and at the shop. When you have a clean workspace, chances of slip, trips or falls are very unlikely. In the picture I provided, that could easily be a trip or slip hazard with the wrapping of the tape on the ground which could cause a slippery surface and with the trash surrounding it, you could trip over the debris. So always make sure to clean your workspace and keep and eye out on messy areas to prevent any possible injuries or accidents that may occur due to bad housekeeping.

Found rusty nail and piece of wood with nails sticking out of it in our parking lot. This could have caused tire damage to one of or vehicles or an employee could have stepped on them. Picked up items and disposed of properly.

Vehicle Safety Hazard.

Vehicle Safety is an important part of our daily work life. A simple walk around inspection can find hazards before we even start the truck. I have found taillight issues and issues with tire tread all by a simple visual inspection. Reporting these issues and having them corrected in a timely manner makes a difference. It only takes seconds but it can save lives.

Where a deluge valve is. There is oil, grease and sludge all around this area. I was very careful and slow . As soon as I got out of the area I cleaned my booths so I wouldn’t slip. It is always like this in a lot of these areas so you have to be extremely careful and slow so you don’t slip and fall.

Home made ladders. Home made means of getting to inaccessible places is not authorized. Ladders and scaffolding, as well as other means of getting to inaccessible places must be OSHA approved. I brought this issue to the site's safety manager explaining how this "stairway" fails to meet safety standards.
